Santa Sangre (1990) (tubitv.com)

The troubled son of an odd religious cult leader, whose arms were severed in a an act of family violence, escapes an asylum to kill for her honor.

Santa Sangre (1989) directed by surrealist maestro Alejandro Jodorowsky (El Topo, The Holy Mountain)—is a staggering, hallucinatory, and emotionally shattering masterpiece of grotesque art-house horror.

I went to see this film when it came out and the number of people who left the cinema in disgust was more than a handful! I love this film. It’s a lot, but Jodorowsky is such a fantastical and weird storyteller. you have to be into horror and gothic

saw this when it premiered as well, and if i recall correctly that's also happened with his previous films. i have his films on DVD with the exception of 𝘍𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘰 & 𝘓𝘪𝘴 and 𝘛𝘶𝘴𝘬, which apparently is pretty bad and not worth seeing.

I haven’t seen that/those films either. I have seen Holy Mountain which is also brilliant. I must try and see some more of his work. I loved El Topo and the Dance of Reality as well. Niche tastes!

𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘏𝘰𝘭𝘺 𝘔𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯 is genius and very prescient. oh yes, forgot about 𝘋𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺, another great film of his. i've been fortunate enough to have seen everything from 𝘌𝘭 𝘛𝘰𝘱𝘰 on the big screen, quite the experience vs. video.
