This would be amusing if we weren't throwing away so much of our national wealth, sovereignty and integrity. The opportunity cost will cripple our ability to provide social programs to support our people. We need Ukrainian style asymmetric defence technology.
Rule #101 of any procurement process;
“Does the supplier have capacity to deliver?”
My reading of America’s engineering sector including craft labour would say NO.
#AUKUS #auspol
Are you talking about things like evidence based policies?
The lack of capacity, particularly with submarines, was well known and written about in industry journals well before Morrison had his brain fart.
A bushel of bolts, a square foot of y'all, and a yard of nuclear waste, what could go wrong?
#DitchAUKUS what a colossal waste of money
The US assessment makes AUKUS a big joke and an even bigger waste of money.
Dumping the French submarine in favour of AUKUS is the biggest defence procurement failure in Australian history and all those who supported it are to be condemned.
Make Nuclear Submarines Simple Again!
That'll work out well, I'm sure.
None of this is new or unknown - US shipbuilding been moribund for many years - captive mkt, Jones Act, loss of skilled wkforce etc
None.
#AUKUS was always driven from the top down and Labor finds itself at the pointy end of a nuclear loaded wedge, skillfully applied by Johnston to his hapless patsy Morrison.
All sides of politics know it's the worst 'deal' ever and that it puts our sovereignty at risk.
But, what to do?
#auspol
Pull out! Like Morrison’s father should have done, and spared us all that efffffing creep!
The A and the UK parts are both going really well though so perhaps it ends up being AUKF after all
Due diligence was never done !
AUKUS might be amended to acceptable if
1. US & UK nuclear submarine rotations are 5 year renewable contracts with 2 year notice to cancel or immediate cancellation if AU Government objects to particular Operations
2. Aust Submarine Construction is Conventional AIP
The due diligence of investigating what consultancy and board jobs were available when they retire from public or military service.
More likely investigating which companies Jared & the rest of the family have invested in.
I doubt there was ANY “due diligence” done my the Defence Department. It was simply #Scottyfrommarketing doing a deal to get himself a cushy job in the US. There was no time during his reign that he EVER thought about anyone other than himself 😡😡😡😡😡
Is our Navy even ready for steam power?
The executive order to retro fit Virginia Class into Steampunk-AUKUS is no doubt imminent.
TKMS subs could replace AUKUS subs built in Adelaide plan (and the dream that Australia will get 3 secondhand Virginia class pre 2039, which is the key part to happen pre building AUKUS subs).

Going back to France a plan B, for an export. Australia can’t try to build any subs in country as long as it holds onto the AUKUS submarine plan.
"our Defence Department" and "due diligence" in the same sentence, how cute.
Probs none, StuntMo took it on faith…
Australia would get more bang for the buck by joining with Ukraine on defence technology.
World leading aerial drones. Low cost missile shields. Sea Baby ocean defence.
And that's even before we get to Trump wanting to insert his own dangerous incompetency into the design specifications for the US Navy.

Fortunately our imagined AUKUS submarines are already steam powered … so we can retain full confidence they will never be delivered exactly as the established timetable foreshadows !!!
Hey Albo and Marles, in the wise words of Monty Python, "Run away, run away!" It's a scam. We will never see a sub you dills.
Executive order 14269 (April9, 2025) - Restoring America's Maritime Dominance.
How that going?
