The sunrise spreads across the sky in broad, layered bands of color. Near the eastern horizon, the clouds glow intensely orange and scarlet, fading upward through deep red, rose, magenta, and violet before reaching the cooler blue-gray of the upper sky. Thin, rippled clouds near the horizon catch the strongest light, while higher, heavier clouds are illuminated unevenly from below, creating sweeping streaks of purple and crimson. Below, the forest and mountain ridge remain almost entirely in shadow. Dark silhouettes of conifers rise sharply against the bright sky, with a lone tree near the center standing above the distant timberline. The contrast is striking: the land is still dark and indistinct while the clouds overhead are already flooded with the approaching sun’s color.
