It is International Lighthouse Heritage Weekend. Here are some of my favourites. Three in northern Scotland and one at the other end of our isle in Dorset, which also features my lovely late wife. *Details in Alt.

From top left, clockwise: Dunconsby Head, Caithness, near John o' Groats at the top of mainland Britain. It is only 11 metres high but 67 metres above sea level, standing on the cliffs above the Pentland Firth. The tidal streams flowing through the Firth once earned it the title ‘Hell’s Mouth’; Barns Ness, Dunbar, guarding the entrance to the port and the Firth of Forth; Portland Bill on the island of Bill in Dorset, near the much bigger Isle of Wight. (This is around 800 miles south of John o' Groats.)
