🪶 Rob has chosen #Warblers for today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme. Alternative is #Ducklings. I have this shot of a Common Whitethroat in song in the Burren, Co. Clare.

A Common Whitethroat perched on the end of a branch singing. The bird is in side profile, facing right either its right side showing. Its head is raised slightly and throat feathers puffed out in song. It has a grey head with a white eye ring, white throat and brown back. The brown turns to a rusty-brown at the wing feather edges. It’s white throat continues into a pinkish white underbelly. The bird is perched at the end of a shot branch from the top of a hawthorn bush, which has lichen growing all over it. In the foreground, to the right, is an out of focus clump of green hawthorn leaves. The background is out of focus grey limestone from the Burren landscape.
