Bonne Fête Nationale d'Acadie! / Happy National Acadian Day! #Acadie 15 August was chosen as the Fête Nationale d'Acadie to coincide with the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin. Mary’s title ‘Star of the Sea’ is alluded to in the Acadian flag and the national hymn ‘Ave Maris Stella’.

Happy Fete Nationale. The flag was adopted on this exact date in 1884, at the second Acadian convention in Miscouche, PEI. Father Marcel-Francois Richard argued for a distinctly Acadian flag, and the star went into the blue band of the French tricolour in papal gold.
