#OnThisDay 15 August 1952 Bernard Cyril Freyberg, 1st Baron Freyberg retired as the 7th Governor-General of New Zealand, having served since 1946. He was succeeded in December by Sir Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie. Sir Humphrey Francis O'Leary thus became Administrator.
