DNC stmt pt 1: "Today, at the DNC’s summer meeting in Austin, Texas, the full DNC voted to officially approve the proposed slate of six early states to lead the 2028 presidential nominating calendar, as well as the accompanying rules package. The vote follows an outpouring of support for the Rules and Bylaws Committee’s proposal after their July meeting. Leaders, advocates, and Democrats from all across the country have praised the calendar’s historic diversity and its ability to battle-test candidates while maintaining an open, affordable field. The early window passed today, as proposed by RBC, includes six states in the following order. • South Carolina, January 22, 2028 • Nevada, February 1, 2028 • New Hampshire, February 8, 2028 • New Mexico, February 15, 2028 • Michigan, February 22, 2028 • Virginia, February 29, 2028"
