Hawaiʻi Island is preparing for the arrival of a hurricane, as Tropical Storm #Lala makes its approach. As of 5 a.m. Friday morning, Lala was 420 miles E/SE of Hilo, moving west NWW at 12 mph. “This general motion is expected to continue, taking the core of Lala near Hawaiʻi Island on Saturday.

We can definitely chalk this one up to El Nino. Storm like this virtually always get sheared apart by the Tradewinds before they can reach the islands, but not this Summer. Hawaii will be in the crosshairs for another couple of months.
