For #FinFriday and #FishFriday I'm sharing a few pictures of some of my friends who live along the #Kona shore. A honu (green sea #turtle), a Peacock Flounder, a humuhumunukunukuapua'a & a Rockmover Wrasse.

A green sea turtle (honu, in Hawaiian) grazes on algae on the rocks of Kahalu'u Bay. It has a number on its back, identifying it as one of the turtles which the Mauna Lani resort releases every year on July 4th for Turtle Independence Day. This one swam right up to me as I sat on the edge of the bay. It's illegal to touch them but they can touch you, and this one did. It was a youngster, about 2' across the top of its shell and about 3' from head to tail. Completely unafraid, chill as could be. It stayed next to me for about 15 minutes, a lovely little encounter.
