🌊 How do warmer oceans affect the types of weather we experience? Take #TropicalStormLala, headed toward Hawaii this weekend. #Lala is expected to bring heavy rain to the Big Island, with NOAA forecasting up to 25" of rain in some areas on the windward side.

There’s a climate connection here: 🌡️ #Lala passed over Pacific waters up to 3°F warmer than average — a level of ocean warmth made 30–70x more likely due to climate change. 🌧️Rainfall would occur either way. But warmer water adds more moisture into the air, which can fuel heavier rainfall.

🌎The Pacific isn't the only ocean experiencing intense heat. In fact, nearly every major ocean basin around the world is currently experiencing some form of marine heat wave. More via #ClimateCentral ⤵️

Geez! I'm nearly 70 and struggle to remember F and inches from over 50 years ago, do you think you could include metric etc for the rest of the world? 😆

I heard the most rain will fall at higher elevations. People should get down closer to the coast and on the leeward side, if possible.
