A Hurricane Warning is in effect for the Big Island; a Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Maui County. Strongest winds expected in higher terrain. Heavy Rainfall: Rain impacts the Big Island Friday, spreading west across the island chain over the weekend, bringing life-threatening flooding and mudslides, especially in steep terrain. Surf & Coastal Impacts: Large, dangerous waves expected this weekend, causing localized coastal flooding and beach erosion, especially along Big Island's windward and southern shores.
