Everyone should put through an OIA & also ask why National party business had to be done in Parliament when they had a scheduled zoom on the Tuesday, which Luxon cancelled Most flew in for a 3 hour meeting & then flew out immediately after, returning this coming week as scheduled #entitled #nzpol

The #OIA's jurisdiction is not whether we paid for it, but whether the information is held in an official capacity by a minister or listed agency. This information is not held by either...

This was clearly party business, so any minister attending did so in their capacity as an MP (who are not a listed agency). So you can't ask them. Neither can you ask the funding agency - parliamentary services - because they're not subject to the OIA either.

Should we have paid for it? Who leads a party's caucus _is_ a parliamentary function, so yes. At the same time, we don't have to like it, especially when the people doing the spending are preaching to the rest of us about "austerity" and "waste".

Was it responsible spending for a party to fly everyone to Wellington for a meeting which could have been a zoom, and which resulted in nothing? As voters, we get to judge the politicians on that. And on their hypocrisy.
