Hello Ladies & Gentlemen! Recently, we published a fascinating article on pharmaceutical pollution along the coast of California. This article comes to us courtesy of writer Orsolya Dunai. In this month’s installment of The Pacific Tide, we introduce one of the fastest-growing, non-traditional forms of water contamination: pharmaceutical pollution. We follow the journey of how pharmaceuticals enter the waterways/ocean and potentially cause great harm to marine animals and oceanic ecosystems. We also explore the recent data from the Pacific Marine Mammal Center in Los Angeles finding that 92.6% of California Sea Lions tested with noticeable NSAID levels in their livers during post-mortem autopsies.
