The big selling-point for the Jetta was its unusually cavernous boot, which the brochure noted offered more space than the ubiquitous Ford Cortina. LX specifications included chrome trim embellishments, a factory-fitted steel sunroof, front foglamps and fancy wheel trims.

It helped that some markets would continue to be very fond of car with boot Vs hatchback for some years
