First Draft: At Last, a Real Fighter to Punch Back at Trump (zeteo.com)

On his first weekend as the Democratic Senate nominee in Michigan, Abdul El-Sayed came out swinging. In contrast, the Republican senator who made Todd Blanche attorney general had everybody cringing.

"the Democratic rank-and-file have been waiting a decade for a high-profile Democrat to speak in this blunt way, to take the fight to Trump and his fellow MAGA bullies." From today's First Draft on the political utility of Abdul El-Sayed's dunks on Trump:

Boycott Israel! Anti-BDS laws must be repealed! America is not the United States of Israel! We will and are not supporting murders, rapists, sex traffickers, and GENOCIDE. Stop this war in Iran.

I think people should see it even if they aren't a paid subscriber, so I looked it up. youtu.be/ximqVsAi8b8?... This dude has "it." He could go very, very far.

No offense to Mrs. Obama but you cannot defeat fascists with "when they go low, we go high" I say: when they go low, step on their fucking necks.

I still can't figure out how every centrist Democrat managed to miss school the day they covered the failures of appeasement throughout history. A coup happened on live TV and nobody of consequence was held accountable. There is too much at stake to repeat the failures of the Garland approach again

Dude I have been lost with no party after my party was conned by trump and he hijacked it, now I think I'm a democrat socialist. I love Sayed and Mandani

Yes, and it feels like the style and the demeanor are more important than any single issue. Brad Lander got this right: "Fight not fold." (If he coined that, good for him.) But that is now THE salient issue for Dems: who will stick their neck out like ordinary people are? Who will fight back?

Dunks are fine, but we need promises to prosecute and jail these people

Mr. Hasan the communist control act of 1954 was never repealed, if it is applied to every DSA member who has quoted Karl Marx or advocated the ideas of communism and white labeling themselves as DSA; how are you defend yourself in your members?

Here I agree with you. There needs to be strong voices of people actively campaigning so they’re in news situations like a rally or town hall. Forces coverage. Oshoff is also doing a great job at this. But yeah, some of El-Sayed’s one liners are simply outstanding.

Yes and no. I’m not thrilled to hear yet another vulgarian talking like a high school boy.
