Thanks for reminding me it’s VJ Day Lucy. My dad fought and was wounded in Burma, he had to swim the Satang river at night wounded, when the bridge was blown behind him. In the morning he discovered he was on the same bank and had to swim it again. Rescued he was 6 stone in Poona hospital.
