Question: I saved a now 3+month old kitten from going into a holding cell. He was blind, malnourished, ear mites and fleas. We have done all we can, vet bills, food, and he's now healthy and gained 3lbs in these 3 months. BUT... he bites, alot, and hard. Draws blood. I know kittens bite...

I had a Maine Coon I raised from 8 weeks, and he bit me maybe 2-4 times in 16 years. Never drew blood but once. I am at my wits end with this guy cause now he tries to bit my dogs who have been friendly with him also. You have cats so thought I'd ask. Thanks in advance for any ideas. JD

JD, first of all, thank you for saving him. ❤️ He had such a rough start. My guess is he may not have learned bite inhibition properly, especially if he was separated from his mother/littermates too young. ++

++ I’d avoid hand play, redirect him to wand toys, and calmly stop play when he bites hard. Since he’s biting the dogs too, supervise them for now. I’d also mention it to your vet, just to rule out pain. He’s still very young. ❤️

Thank you. He was separated too young. Just need to teach him not to bite as he doesn't always control how hard. He had a very rough start. Thank you again.
