I tought Mr Bates looked very daper in his suit & tie - nothing worse than older people trying to look young & hip, it's one of the reasons I don't wear jeans anymore.
I find that outfit a bit too formal for #TOTP, to be honest. Something more casual without looking too desperate to look young and hip would suit him better in that context.
