take private insurance out of the equation as the primary provider and bring in universal healthcare as a payroll deduction, people will be paying less than 1000/year (often less than 500) by pooling the funds, need a doctor or hospital care? go see one, no deductible, just go.
That is the real answer to eliminating fraud and abuse of our tax dollars.
France has a healthcare system far superior to ours, and the cost averages to roughly $5000 per person per year.
Our average cost per person per year is above $14,000, and our health outcomes are on par with Romania.

I highly recommend that before any American citizen votes in the 2026 midterm elections that they sign up for the free online courses at Hillsdale College and take the course titled American Citizenship and its Decline.

Yes, they do. But Texans have also proven over and over again they will place a higher value on protecting their ability to publicly be hate filled bigots than protecting their healthcare and that of their children.
It should be free. Until then, healthcare is simply untenable for low income families. If they can afford cuts to Wall Street, subsidies for farmers and wars we never wanted, they can afford free healthcare and free education through college.
That’s a matter of deciding the income level for what qualifies for support such as Medicaid, which would pay for their Medicare. It does now. But the definition of “low income” is what we keep getting hung up on. The ACA addressed that, with subsidies up to 100% of a family’s insurance premium.
I don't know that it should be free. Free is a license for freeloaders to waste their life. Everyone should be contributing something to the world.

In El Paso, my Aunt Mary died because she was denied healthcare because she was poor. She went to the hospital and they sent her home saying she was having a panic attack. She died of a heart attack the next morning. They did something similar to my son who died of a pulmonary embolism.
I’m very, very sorry about your son and your aunt. Those things just shouldn’t be happening. But they do, and there’s no way to know if it isn’t some catastrophic event happening, regardless of how good the care is.
Texas ranks third worst in the nation in healthcare. It is not the place you want to be if you have a serious medical event. I keep shaking my head about all the people that are supposedly flocking to Texas because of low taxes. The place is a dump, and the decision to move there may be fatal.

Sanders wants Medicare for All. How do we pay for it? Raise SOME taxes on the wealthy, but also cut the Military in HALF. we spend more on the military than the next 10 countries combined, we could cut that in HALF and still have the best, strongest military AND Healthcare for people.
Medicare for All doesn’t mean it’s free. Medicare isn’t free right now, we pay for it. Part A, the hospitalization, is “free”, if you don’t count the $1600+ co-pay that re-ups every three months, and of course we pay for part B and part D. 
I pay for my Medicare with deductions from my Social Security. I had free insurance while I was working and as a retiree I am able to have the Medicare advantage but I pay for my insurance now. Any SS cost of living increase is met with increase Medicare cost
