My grandparents built a cabin at that lake, so we spent two weeks each summer up there. The cabin was right under the mountain, so it was something we all wanted to climb. The color photo is more recent when I was up there doing work on the cabin.

I have some photos from the area. Older photos were regular film and were lost/damaged.
After both my parents passed, we sold the cabin. It was prohibitive to maintain + fear of forest fires. Just as the sale closed, it nearly burned down from a forest fire. The fire fighters saved it. 😰
Oh, I’m glad it could be saved from the fire. That would have been a shame if it burned down.

Thank you, Konstanz! Yes, it's possible about my ancestors originating in Suevia. That is the area where they lived. My brother did a lot of research and is more knowledgeable about it than I am.

I think in old photographs, most of us don't look happy. We were all too serious, I think. But in this case, perhaps you were tired, and your dad didn't say, "Say cheese!"
I'm sure my dad didn't say, "Say cheese!" It could be he snapped the photo without us realizing it.
I was on a big calligraphy kick around that age and loved to practice.
