Privatising healthcare: Govt spends $300m on first long-term contracts with private hospitals (nzherald.co.nz)

Critics warn the deals could drain staff and training from public hospitals.

$300 million that should be going into adequately funding & staffing public hospitals is being funneled into FOR PROFIT private hospitals. Legit making money off sick & dying New Zealanders. US healthcare system here we come! 🤬 #nzpol #OneTermGovernment #NZ www.nzherald.co.nz/business/com...

As a good friend of mine said, when you outsource something there is an extra mouth to feed. From what I gather the contract will fund 19332 surgeries over 6 years which works out to be $15518 per surgery. It would be interesting to know how it compares to the public hospital system.

Oh very virtuous, Brown. At private hospital rates. And what does a cross section of the patient’s reveal 🤔

Oh we are already there given how much we have to pay for private health insurance, not having it is no longer an option. I think we can ditch the supposed socialised healthcare now, it’s a lie.
