Tell me @gwill2k.bsky.social and @ianbrownlie.bsky.social, did you conspire? But seriously, I love when two poets approach the same event or element from different perspectives in response to the prompt. This weekend, you have provided a wonderful juxtaposition of perspectives. 🏅 🏅 are in order!!!

I would love to see some comments on this. I have a feeling this poem could have gone in any number of directions. There is relapse, collapse, etc., but then we wind up finding God in the music.

Oh, I would love to have some insight!

Nirvana played Reading in 92. Last show ever in the UK. The poem describes the start of the legendary show and borrows (sometimes subverts) phrasing from Nirvana lyrics played that night. For example Lithium & “found God”

Thank you so much for that! It really is an outstanding poem. I am beginning to realize what a defining moment that was for many people. Somehow, I skipped the whole grunge era. Maybe because of the heroin.

Those who were there saw something special that night. A fragile genius on the edge. This poem really encapsulates this. Thank you ❤️

Thanks so much Stacey! I’ve never really wrote anything like this before. I love the band. I love the ethos. And I love how KC taught a bunch of young people how’s there’s a better way even if he could never find a way to include himself in that very same tolerance/ forgiveness equation.
