The intricately carved, golden-toned stucco ceiling of the Erice Cathedral (Chiesa Matrice, formerly Real Chiesa Madrice Insigne Collegiata di Erice) in Sicily, Italy. The vault features complex geometric and floral patterns arranged in a ribbed, crossed design. Originally dating back to the 14th century, the ceiling has been described as a unique artistic blend of Norman and Middle Eastern architectural styles.
