I lived on a sailboat for 3 years out of Maine and sailed the New England ALOT, we always got escorted by whales from Plymouth to The Cape, never that many though.
That is beautiful..we are so small compared to them....
I'm guessing there's good fishing there - anchovies, anyone?

We had a similar experience 35 years ago off Boston. Engine off and drifting. They came around and checked us out. Incredible. 40’ of sailboat just ain’t that big next to a half dozen of these incredible beings.

Not at all. We sat on deck and watched them for almost 45 minutes. Mother with calf just stayed 50-60’ away. Several came right up to the boat and at the last second dove under. A couple gave us a side eye look over..
Beautiful and at the same time heartbreaking as we destroy their home with our trash and greed.

About 20 years ago, I was swimming out in the ocean in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina, and a pot of dolphins swim past me. They were about 2 ft from me, and it was the most amazing experience.

Sensory overload🐋🐋!Experiencing calves and parents breach and submerge under our boat off Stellwagen Bank was a lifetime wonder. Being showered with spray was akin to being showered with Holy Water by the Pope. Magnificent mammals who still tolerate humans. Gentle giants. Thanks for sharing.
