Made me realise I've not taken any of the MX-5 despite owning it for a couple of years (must not have driven it that much at night), and none of the Fusion yet. But the RX-7's pretty good.
I really enjoyed driving my MX-5 at night, especially in mid summer when my pasty white skin meant driving in the day with the roof down came with serious risks

I don’t know if this happened in the UK but in the late 90s/early 00s there was a common line around the US VW community that low-eyestrain/high-contrast color scheme was derived from fighter jets (sometimes intimated to be the Eurofighter) but afaict that’s not true and i wonder where it started
regardless i loved it in my Beetle. for a while it was such a great time to be a VW person
It's one of those things that feels like a pure aesthetic choice as it does just look great. My understanding is warmer colours tend to be better for not knackering night vision though. And I've always liked green, like the ones in my Paseo.
Granted I only experienced it from Taxis but I always found the Avensis lights very comforting. Nice warm amber glow.
I’d imagine it probably not that bad for the eyes as it was a very similar yellow to the sodium streetlights
