Text from the short story 'THE STORY (wt)' showing Julian Sampers coming up with new story ideas. Extract follows: Julian spent twenty minutes in a discount store comparing the merits of different notebooks. Hardcover versus softcover. Lined versus unlined. Saddle stitched versus sprial bound. When he left, he had purchased three to match the mood of the naturally epic stories they would contain. Hitting the pavement he thought up ideas and instantly rejected them as they were: Too overdone, like burnt toast; Would need too much research. I don’t have the time for that right now. And I gotta leave room open for a sequel; Nope. Not the genre I want to focus on, ATM. After a week. Julian Sampers could not admit he was devoid of viable story ideas.
