A stallion and his extra special mare in the beautiful ponderosa pine forest of Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest

Two horses stand side by side, facing the camera and centered in the image which is zoomed in so we see their full bodies taking up much of the image center. A chestnut stallion with a blaze on the left looks off to the left of the image while the bay mare with a star on the right looks straight at the camera. They have fuzzy winter coats and the setting, surrounded by tall ponderosa pines, has the dried brown grasses of early winter.
