Manners forced me to bake cookies for my new neighbor, but when I knocked on his door, no one answered. I left the plate on his porch and silently hoped the neighborhood raccoons got to it first. The plate appeared on my porch the next day clean and stacked with lemon cupcakes. They were ridiculously delicious. Time to bust out the big guns. I made apple turnovers with my grandmother’s secret recipe and left half on his porch without bothering to knock. If the cupcakes were any indication, we were engaging in stealth warfare.
