This feels like a parallel experience to being a crossword clue except it cost all of us hundreds of thousands of dollars we don’t have and also we almost went to jail.

He even talks again about Buc-ee!

no offense but if your last name was a crossword clue I’d be a little pissed
ThatGirlThatLivesThere · 2 · 2h ago
I'm really sorry if laughed as hard as I did at this. Only because I tried (and failed) to type it many times during the campaign.

I finally got it right near the beginning and now I can do it without looking. Lucky for me it’s spelled just like it sounds! Abughazaleh. I just had to remember the middle part has an H then I tack on the first and last part. Ghaza, then put the first and last parts on. IRL I have wild last name.

Lmao it was “KAT ABU”
farner · 111 · 3h ago
okay that’s reasonable (sorry you got politically persecuted) :(

Upside: you're probably all going to get that $$ back plus a lot more as the Trump goons desperately try to cover their tracks for targeting anyone outside The Cult Downside: guess we'll all have decent commissary money in Stephen Miller's re-education camps

I was surprised he didn’t emphasize the fact that one of the 6 was a candidate for a US House seat. Seems relevant.
Mark Schrier · 27 · 3h ago
Kat wasn't the only one doing politics. 4 of them were running for office, one was working for kat and one had a guitar.
hobbes>calvin · 6 · 3h ago
I didn’t know that, thanks! I love John Oliver, but feel like he missed an opportunity to really drive home his point about the current state of the DOJ .
wait what's the relevance of the guitar
Mark Schrier · 3 · 1h ago
Nothing. That's the point. It's weird that it wasn't the broadview five. Everyone else was involved in politics in some way.

A new must-watch John Oliver show.
Jared Cram · 19 · 2h ago
You pulled off the rare feat of being a famous person shown on John Oliver and coming off well. Congratulations!

I want someone to work you into a puzzle with James Abourezk, Lebanese U.S/ Senator from South Dakota. You and he share similar politics. It was a kinder time. His book Advise and Dissent is excellent.

Why didn't Dem billionaires just front the entire cost of the litigation. Aren't they an opposition party.
Numbcat9 · 0 · 19m ago
Why did the attorneys charge so much.

Oh don’t have hundreds of thousands of dollars to burn on legal defense? Well then shouldn’t have been exercising your rights as an american. 🇺🇸👮‍♂️🇺🇸

Genuinely so grateful that he mentioned that right at the top. The best in the biz.
