The neighbor planted corn this year. I had not heard of "prevent plant", a crop insurance clause, until this year. The drought has resulted in some farmers opting out of traditional crops and either leaving land bare or planted with cover crops.

This is beautiful, though. I never heard of “prevent plant” either so I just looked it up. It seems that doing this helps with erosion prevention. It’s unfortunate that all of this is happening and some folks believe it’s just a cyclical event. If it is, we must be stuck.

I never heard of that before! What a shame for the farmers. I hope this winter brings a lot of snow and everything recovers for next planting season.
