The 6th Wisconsin was part of the famed Iron Brigade from the American Civil War. They also were part of the remarkable charge of the unfinished railway cut on Day 1 at Gettysburg.

I liked it. I studied under Lance Herdegen in college and that meant a ton of Iron Brigade material. 😂 That said, it’s a great representation of how the field of regimental history has really evolved, with a strong focus on the postwar lives of the men. Really good. Plus, read Lance’s books too.
