Vintage nightlight. Tough pink molded plastic (or perhaps thickly painted metal) with a face sporting 6 star cut-outs and a center milky white orb representing the moon. Remarkably, a small black knob on the top allows one to rotate a shield within the orb so as to dim the light AND simulate any phase of the moon. About 2.5 in diameter. Made by General Electric. Oh, the plug that goes into a standard wall outlet also rotates so that the light can be positioned upright like this or sideways. I think it's one of the best designed products I've ever encountered. It not only gets the job done but gets it done with style and a smile. If you hurry you might be able to buy one for yourself on eBay for about $35. Some were even made in baby boy blue! I feel so inferior in comparison. I guess it's time to go cry myself to sleep - with the nightlight definitely off!
