Just downhill from The (huge) Gop #Neolithic Cairn (2nd largest #prehistoric mound in the UK), are The Gop Caves. Good to have another poke around and marvel - AS the eclipse was edging off. Millennia of Life and Death has occurred in those recesses and shelters.

Ice Age → animals such as woolly rhinoceros and hyena Late Upper Palaeolithic/Mesolithic → hunter-gatherer flint and chert tools Neolithic → burial of at least 20 people, pottery, stone tools, jet objects and a Graig Lwyd axe → the extraordinary Neolithic Gop Cairn immediately above the cave
