Flash Flood Warning issued August 14 at 5:01PM MDT until August 14 at 7:30PM MDT by NWS Albuquerque NMAt 501 PM MDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain over the South Fork Burn Scar. Between 0.4 and 0.9 inches of rain have fallen west of Main Road and Upper Canyon on the Mescalero Apache Reservation in Otero County. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.1 to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will impact Upper Canyon, Brady Canyon, and Perk Canyon as well as the Cedar Creek, Eagle Creek and Rio Ruidoso drainages. Impacts will include but are not limited to all nearby reservoirs, bridges, culverts and roadways. Impacts to areas along the Rio Ruidoso may extend downstream of Ruidoso Downs. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding.
