Incredible moment you captured here, Dave! 📸 🙌🏼
I adore mergansers.
Thanks, I'm happy you enjoyed the photo.
Go Ducks!
My lord. How cute is this. Amazing capture Dave.
Thanks Alan. I really should add it to my re-edit list. This is a low resolution image from a blog post a decade ago.
Sort of like the Swan Boat in Boston...
Great shot, though in Munich we'd call that a light load.
Got one Merganser with 19 ducklings this year, of which 16 survived the first weeks.
In North America the species crèche other birds broods. Females have been recorded looking after 30 or more. I've seen several females with 50 young.
Interesting!
Reminds me of myself: One child walking, holding on to Pram ..a newborn and another little one in it...Gee..how did I ever survive it..
I have other variations.
Cuties!! 😍 What a beautiful capture, Dave!
Beautiful photo of the mother duck with her ducklings. Where and when did you take this photo?
Five minutes from home a few years ago.
Jeez! A little privacy maybe?
Marvellous shot
Pacific Black #Ducklings at MONA, nipaluna/Hobart
Wonderfully taken Dave and a very popular post today and rightly so ☺️👌🏼💙
Thanks Jason. Surprisingly popular. I wish I had re-edit a better version. This is low resolution version from a blog post a decade ago.
Mergansers communally raise their young. So one mom might be watching all of everyone else’s ducklings. There is a photo of one merganser with 50 ducklings swimming behind her. They all take turns and the new moms learn from the experienced ones. It takes a village y’all.
I'm aware of that, I've already explained it to someone in the comments.
Psshh!
Commuting stinks!
This bus is always crowded.
Not always
Awwww!!! Squee! 🥰
How adorable is that?! So glad you caught this happy little family! ❤️
Thanks, I'm glad you liked the photo.
