I echo what others have said, and I also like how substance is given to the light, as when it paints the folds in the curtain.
Thank you!! 🙏🙏
A wonderful atmosphere of absence and remembrance. It feels as though the stage remembers long after everyone has gone. “Tonight’s audience was memory” is a brilliant line. ✍️👏✨
This is so haunting. I really love it. You can imagine the crumbing plaster and musty smell just reading it.
Great poem mate 👏
Many thanks!
I am really glad the imagery worked out.
I actually edited out a bit about plaster 😂. I was trying to write it from center stage and the walls moved me off of it. Writers, ya know? 😂
I know! But you didn't need to. It came through just from vibes. That's good writing. Knowing what to take out is as important as knowing what to leave in 👌
Thank you.
"The single bulb shines to hold the history." Such an evocative piece! I'm fascinated by ghost lights, too. There was a lot about them when the theaters were all shut down during the pandemic.
Oh I am so glad you liked it and commented! There is a whole mythology there, it is pretty and sad at the same time!
I also like all the stories of theater ghosts, as well as ghost lights. 😊
I did like it! Pretty and sad--yes. There was an indie movie that came out a couple years ago called "Ghostlight," that my husband and I both liked.
I will have to look that up!!
Thank you!
The emptiness, the whole of things once primary, now gone, a really powerful piece on feelings and the passage of time.
Brilliant write, Ash. 😊💙💫
A haunting piece that unfolds beautifully. Particularly struck by the phrase:
“Yet, the air holds the slightest trace Of perfume above the ghosts of old paint
Grease and cigarette smoke.”
Love.✨
All the thanks 🙏🙏
I appreciate how much thought you put into the feedback you give me!
My pleasure, always. 😊💙💫
As Raven pointed out succinctly,
“Tonight’s audience was a memory” is an exquisite line.
Truly a fine piece. I hope you will publish it elsewhere, and include in your readings.✨
