#ForestFriday #ECK #aofoto An entrance to Wheal Victoria - a long-abandoned copper mine

On the edges of Bodmin Moor in Cornwall, an area much known for its abandoned metal mines, is this concealed entrance to an adit, or level, if the Wheal Victoria Copper Mine. This adit intersected half-way down with the main engine shaft on the hillside above. The grill is partly for ventilation and partly to allow iingress and egress of bats.
