🤣👍 Nice one! Need that for my garden. And I’ve done exactly the same thing with a Magpie Moth 🙈 I think it was hiding under the bridge that holds up the bulbs, etc. I normally take it out to check underneath, but on this particular occasion, I’d been lazy and not checked it!

That makes me feel better, as Magpie Moth is even more bleedin' obvious than Pearly Underwing! 😂 Presumably I did see this, but dismissed it as a Turnip. Not at all common in Leics - think I've only seen a couple in nearly 40 years.

🤣 it’s just between you and me, ok? 😆 And it was hiding somewhere I couldn’t even see it after all 😅 Nice record 👍

I once found a Thistle Ermine happily resting on the vanes of a trap that I had lifted indoors on the previous day 🙄.

We added a new species for the Kedleston session whilst driving home in the car (must have been amongst the kit) 🚗 😃 Granted it was only a Blastobasis lacticolella, but they all count.

I shan't mention it to anyone. 🤐

I bought one of these to look under the "bridge". I didn't know it was called that. Quick and easy. amzn.eu/d/05IkKJyF

That’s a good idea 👍 I’m not sure what to call it either to be honest, but you knew what I meant when I said “bridge” so we’ll stick with it 😅😉 When you know, you know 😄

I knew what you meant straight away. And I was a little annoyed with myself that I couldn't come up with a word for it in the past except "that thing". 😂

We've all done it!

They do have very effective invisibility cloaks... I can look at the wall behind the trap for 20 mins and only find a macro sitting slap bang in front of me after virtually looking at it ten times...🤣

I've done this a couple of times! I always do a second check in the afternoon now!

I've done it with micros, but nothing as big and obvious as this! My only possible excuse is that I'm definitely not a morning person, so I'm usually half asleep looking at the traps. 🥱

I do this quite often. I make silly decisions in the morning.
