We're very sad to hear about the death of Jimmy Rimmer. Born in Southport, a twice European Cup winner, 1 England cap and 470 club appearances, majority for MUFC, AVFC, AFC and SCFC. A great career. RIP Jimmy

As an Arsenal fan I’d add my condolences to Jimmy’s family. He’s up there in the discussion of our top keepers - we weren’t very good as a team when he was with us, and he was important in keeping us going. Sad news indeed

I supported the Villa in my youth in the 70s and 80s then hooliganism in football put an end to my interest. When football comes up in conversation I still say - "last time I watched football, Jimmy Rimmer was in goal". RIP to a legend.
