omg it’s actually my project for next year!! i want to do a super long epic fantasy and i am so intrigued by it
It's so good. I took a long break but started reading again (book 7). I re read the first few books a few times more. I love them and am low key sad that it will eventually come to the end.
i want to give myself plenty of time to really savor it bc i always get really sad when a series ends and i imagine it will be even harder when it’s one that requires such an investment of time.

you are in for a ride :) 12,000 pages of awesome fantasy fiction lol (the writing isnt perfect, but man the story is sooo good)
tbf most epic fantasies have occasionally dubious writing especially with that many pages lol

for sure, its awesome tho. i read it recently, bummed the show got cancelled, was just hitting its stride.
Do you see a noticeable shift when the other guy finished the last couple of books?

As someone who really just reads it for the plot, i noticed nothing major - but overall because the plot is SO intriguing as it reaches its climax in the last couple books, it made no difference to me when i was reading it. Sanderson did a great job with it IMO
The Tv show took some liberties which is fine. I'm grateful for the casting bc I have better visuals for some of the characters when I read
i don’t mind adaptations making changes tbh they’re different mediums so i can see why you’d need to alter some details to get the same emotional beat
Yup. Some hardcore fans were really upset but it was overwhelmingly racism bc God forbid a series where people weave magic have POC actors.
so basically exactly what happened w rings of power (i do think there are some legit critiques but you just can’t get around the fact that 99% of it is people mad there are elves that aren’t white)
Pretty much! God bless Rafe bc the casting was chef's kiss

I sooooo wish we got more than three seasons.. have read and reread the books. So much to pick up each time, interesting concepts, and my mental rewrites get me over the dated or problematic stuff
