In the earliest version, Joseph was seeking forgiveness, said he already knew the churches were wrong, and explicitly described only one divine figure. Later versions added or changed major elements, including two clearly identified beings, Satan’s attack, and the command not to join any church. Those aren’t tiny differences like forgetting what you ate for breakfast (lolz). They change the theology and purpose of the entire story.
