I see #poetry is trending over on Twitter/X. I guess those trolls who told me no one cares about poets and poetry nowadays were wrong. Hurrah for poetry! Sounds like time to once again re-share my poem "Poet Is. Dead? Not So Fast!"

Poetry is Dead? Not so Fast! By Richard H. Fay Been a poet long enough now (More years than I dare recall) To have heard poetry proclaimed dead More often than I dare count. Poetry has died more deaths than a cat, But that deceased artform lumbers on Unaware of its announced demise And awfully lively for such a lifeless corpse. Been penning poetry for so long now (Let’s say it’s been multiple decades) To have lived through a great multitude Of predicted poetic apocalypses. Yet poetry keeps acting the literary phoenix Rising up from the ashes of despair With a brilliant artistry burning anew. Been hanging with poets for so long now (By now you all get the general idea) That I know some folks keep breathing life Into an artform others often declare defunct. Perhaps modern poets are quixotic poseurs Tilting at so many writerly windmills. Nevertheless, we continue charging along.
