Apologies, am Canadian, but work in the industry: Do you have to change hotels *entirely* or can you check out your current reservation and make another booking? I know that the same booking cannot go past a certain number of days (becomes a tenancy thing) but unsure if moving hotels is required

Indeed. It was supposed to help people, but since Hotel managers and owners can boot you for any reason, nobody follows it. Making things even harder for people staying in hotels. Unless they stop allowing hotel managers to kick you out over nothing, nobody will follow it.

I can come back here, but I have to leave for a night, or else they are forced to give me housing rights. Which, of course hotels don’t let happen. Inspite of what seemed like a progressive law. But it ends up making life harder on the homeless, because now forced to move around, and pay deposits
