Graham Jones · 2 · 1d ago Great captures Rob but I have still only seen one or two ladybirds. Plenty of bees and a few butterflies in the garden, mostly Meadow Brown and cabbage whites.
Rob Crank Photography · 2 · 1d ago The Ladybirds were all over the place when I visited Tophill and Bempton on that trip, at Bempton there were thousands of them and the most I've seen at one venue before.

Thanks KB, I used the RF200-800 with a 1.4x on for these shots as I find it much easier than trying to get close enough with my RF100 Macro Lens.
Close isn't much of a problem as I try to keep a good insect and bug supply for the lizards and birds. Not quite farming them properly yet but I've worked to increase the populations.
Other than the brown recluse spiders where I am not stupid enough to get close, close is not an issue.
The small creatures are some of the most beautiful.
They are Ann and very interesting too, it's amazing what goes on down there when you take time to actually watch them.
It really is. Saw some lovely little beetles amongst the zinnias while watering today. What joy!
