Türkiye's Ministry of Culture and Tourism has announced that the 2026 season at Göbekli Tepe has moved into ground that has never been dug before.
Göbekli Tepe: for the first time, excavation has opened on the north side of the mound.
Scans point to large public buildings, rectangular structures and huts under an 80x70 m area. Only about 10% of the site has ever been dug.
